Queen Rearing Workshop at Bee College in Ft Lauderdale

We joined the University of Florida Honey Bee Research and Extension Lab in a one-day honey bee queen rearing workshop lead by expert Dr. Larry Conner, author of Queen Rearing Essentials. This full day session emphasized hands-on learning of queen rearing, including topics like:

• Queen and Drone Biology

• Starter/Finisher Colonies

• Grafting

• Mating Biology and Mating NUCs

Throughout the day, we were able to practice each step of the queen-rearing process with the help and instruction of the person, who literally wrote the book on the subject! The workshop was great fun and Dr. Conner was so patient with us as we all practiced grafting.
